Lawi Mwirigi is a highly motivated and skilled undergraduate research assistant with a background in computer software engineering. He is currently seeking software engineering or program manager internship roles for the summer of 2021. Lawi is currently working at McGill University as an undergraduate research assistant in the Intelligent Systems Lab Volunteers, under the supervision of Professor Joseph Vybihal. His responsibilities include contributing to writing an algorithm that can divide an image into robot and non-robot areas, identifying obstacles, and showing how the algorithm can be added to the server and multi-sensor robot. In addition to this project, Lawi has worked on a stand-alone project called Vision Integration, which involves solving two vision problems: Aerial Robot and Ground-based Robot. Prior to his current role, Lawi worked as a service assistant at Douglas Mental Health Institute and as a website manager and developer at the National Society of Black Engineers. Lawi holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Software Engineering from McGill University, where he will graduate in 2022. He also has a High School Diploma from Lenana School, where he studied Sciences and Mathematics. Lawi has a strong skill set that includes research, integration, and JavaScript. He has 1.45 years of relevant experience and is eager to apply his skills and knowledge to a software engineering or program manager internship role.
