Liang Xue is a highly experienced Manager in Software Engineering and Data/ML Infrastructure with over 10 years of experience. He is an AWS certified solution architecture/developer and a RedHat certified Linux System Administrator. He has a strong background in designing and building end-to-end cloud native solutions for data/ML pipelines, platforms, and customer-facing frontends on AWS/GCP using infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD automation, serverless function/container, GKE/EKS, airflow, MLOps + Cloud integration, Blue/Green deployment, etc. Liang is also a senior software/data engineer with expertise in data/test driven software engineering, application maintenance, and big data solutions on real-time/batch data ingestion, ETL, and online data inquiry. He has worked as a Postdoctoral researcher/physicist in high-energy nuclear physics, where he worked on nuclear data acquisition, data visualization, and particle classification using statistical approaches. Currently working at Intuitive, Liang has previously worked as a Sr. Data Engineer and Data Scientist at Ciox Health, where he was responsible for medical record data processing, transformation, and delivery to external customers using k8s, Python, and cloud-native tools such as AWS S3, SQS, Postgres, RedShift, ELK. He has also worked on text extraction and document classification on medical records using NLP/AI and machine learning technologies, including but not limited to text pre-processing with Spacy/Gensim (stop-words, stemming), language representation model (Bag-of-Words, TF-IDF, BERT, Universal Sentence Encoder), and text classification with logistic regression, SVM, fasttext, XGBboost, Keras Neural Network. He has also analyzed and validated third party NLP model outcomes, including patient demographics, medication, diseases, allergies, and clinical summaries. Liang holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in High Energy Nuclear Physics from the Chinese Academy of Science, Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Applied Physics from Shandong University.
