Long Tran is a full-stack software engineer with a specialization in web and iOS development. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a Business minor from the University of California, San Diego. With over 6 years of relevant experience, Long is always interested in building products that help organizations move a little faster. Currently, Long is a Senior Software Engineer at Tesla, working on the Autopilot ML Infrastructure team. His primary responsibility is to build cluster management software that scales ML training for FSD. Prior to joining Tesla, Long worked at Facebook, where he held two different roles. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Facebook Community Economy & Empowerment team, Long worked on exploratory web3 initiatives and helped launch monetization products for FB Groups. In his second role at Facebook, Long worked on the Instagram Core Ads Experiences team, where he implemented features for front-line products like Reels, Feed, and Explore ads on the Instagram iOS app. He also worked on intent-aware ads products, a series of defensive strategies that used 1st-party signals to deliver more relevant, unobtrusive ads. Additionally, Long owned and implemented features for the IG In-App WebViewer, preventing significant revenue loss from external threats. He also prototyped exploratory ads products and drew learnings from large-scale A/B testing. Long's tech stack includes software engineering, ML, infra, Objective-C, iOS, Web3, Postgres, Web, Django, Swift, and test. He is a highly skilled engineer with a passion for building products that solve complex problems.
