Luis Lupian is a Robotics Engineer with over 17 years of experience in developing autonomous mobile robots. He has led teams of talented professionals in both academic research and startup companies of different sizes. Currently, he is working as the Lead Mobile Robotics Engineer at Gestalt Robotics in Berlin, where he collaborates with multinational partners and clients on Industry 4.0 projects involving AI-based automated inspection, autonomous mobile robotics, edge computing, and 5G networks. He also leads the productization efforts of the company’s technology. Luis has an academic background in Control Theory and Computer Science, holding a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which he pursued under a Fulbright fellowship. He founded and directed the Mobile Robotics and Automated Systems Laboratory at Universidad La Salle, where he developed humanoid robots and other autonomous mobile robots. His lab’s work gained national and international attention by participating in six editions of the RoboCup World Championship and other recognized national and regional events with their autonomous football-playing humanoid robots. Luis has been an active participant in the Mexican Federation of Robotics, which he co-founded and presided over, and the Executive Committee of the RoboCup Federation. He was one of three chairs for the RoboCup 2012 World Championship, which he co-organized in Mexico City with several of his colleagues. He has been frequently interviewed for all kinds of media outlets and invited to give speeches at specialized events to share his views about the current state and prospects for mobile robotics. Luis has a diverse skill set that includes mobile robotics, AI, computer vision, ML, research science, product design, and integration. He has worked in several companies, including Cyberlords Mobile Robotics, where he served as a Mobile Robotics Consultant, and the Mexican Federation of Robotics, where he was a member of the Advisory Board. With relevant experience of 20.69 years, Luis is a seasoned professional in the field of mobile robotics.
