Luke Wendling is a highly experienced Lead Backend and Microservices Engineer with over 20 years of experience in the field. He is Security+ and AWS Certified and holds a DOD clearance. Currently, he is leading the migration of a serverless AWS application into a classified Kubernetes environment and building a microservices platform for a company in the defense industry at Skyward Federal. Luke has extensive experience in designing, developing, and deploying software applications for various industries, including Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Geospatial apps for Government and Commercial customers. He was recently the Head of Software Engineering at Slingshot Aerospace, where he led a growing team of software engineers and developed the Company's Space awareness analytics platform, Orbital Atlas, which was awarded a contract by the Air Force for CSpOC trials and is the largest contract ever awarded to Slingshot. Luke has a Master's in MIS and has worked with small companies and start-ups. He has led the migration of mission-critical tactical applications to AWS GovCloud, developed the Company's first microservices pipeline using Kafka and gRPC, and built applications for Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Geospatial apps for Government and Commercial customers. His current tech stack includes Node.js, Python, and Golang microservices deployed in an RKE K8s cluster using Helm charts. He also manages the deployment of logging and monitoring solutions to K8s, using an EFK stack and Prometheus. Luke has a strong technical background and is proficient in various technologies such as Microservices, Backend, AWS, Kubernetes, Javascript, ML, Golang, Docker, NodeJS, Keras, SRE, Kafka, Python, Scikit, Web, Data Scientist, Software Engineer, Computer Vision, Image Processing, Spark, Elastic Search, and Frontend.
