Mainak Chain is a highly skilled Software Engineer with a background in Machine Learning and a passion for solving real-life problems. With over 2.61 years of relevant experience, he has worked with top companies such as Google and Ola, contributing towards improving the lives of millions of users. Currently working as a Software Engineer in the Google Assistant Team, Mainak is focused on making Applied ML-driven scalable solutions to challenging real-life problems, impacting daily lives. He is responsible for designing and implementing ML-driven solutions to improve the Assistant and make the lives of users easier. Before joining Google, Mainak worked as a Data Scientist (Research Engineer) in Ola Mobility Data Science Team, where he designed and implemented ML-driven solutions to challenging business and product problems. He worked on various projects, including building smarter cab allocations, adding semantic relationships to food search using NLP techniques (Ola foods), automating driver onboarding, minimising congestion with traffic lights optimisation, and active learning-based use-case labelling pipeline. Mainak completed his Dual-degree (B.Tech. + M.Tech.) from IIT Kharagpur, where he developed a strong foundation in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. He also holds an MSc. in Mathematics and Computing. Mainak has a keen interest in Kaggling and collaborating with other enthusiasts to solve large scale real-world problems. He is proficient in various tech stacks, including Software Engineering, Research Science, Search, ML, Data Science, AI, and NLP.
