Maksim Pecherskiy is an accomplished Software Engineering Manager at Nana.io with over 13 years of experience in the technology industry. He is passionate about using data to improve city planning and ambulance routing, and has spent the past 4 years as the Chief Data Officer at the City of San Diego. Maksim is highly skilled in writing Python and running high-level strategy meetings. He has built an advanced technical team that can navigate politics and help people get and leverage data for impact. He has also worked at Code for America and Puerto Rico, connecting businesses and government, and ran large engineering teams in the private sector before that. Maksim has a unique background, having lived in 5 countries and speaking 3 languages. He came to the US from Ukraine when he was 10 years old. He holds a BS in Information Systems from DePaul University, a BS in International Business Administration from Linköping University, and a BS in International Business Administration from Omnes Education. At Nana Academy, Maksim has designed developer workflows and Continuous Integration / deployment (CI/CD) processes, trained internal developers on best practices, and expanded the consulting practice by training external teams. He has also developed custom two-way data integration of Drupal and CRM system on time and on budget, and deployed a network of 12 SSO Drupal Sites using unique CI and configuration management techniques. Maksim's past experience includes working as a Data Engineer at the World Bank, where he spearheaded the development of the AllPlayers.com API for integration with external companies, completed development and deployment of AllPlayers.com iPhone app into the app store using the APIs, and collaborated in the development of a Rugby statistics system in Silex and integration modules to connect it to AllPlayers.com. He also worked as a 2014 Fellow at Code for America, where he built relationships with government and business to research economic development opportunities in PR, led a team of 4 to build PrimerPeso - a platform to match entrepreneurs with government incentives, and organized multiple events in the Puerto Rican Senate, helping to start Code4PR in San Juan.
