Manan Tayal is a PhD student at the Stochastic Robotics Laboratory, IISc Bangalore, with a keen interest in legged robotics, reinforcement learning, and control. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Currently, Manan works as a Web Developer at EECS Symposium, where he focuses on developing robust walking in legged robots on uneven terrains by just learning a single linear policy. He has previously worked as a Prime Minister's Research Fellow at Bosch, where he also worked on developing robust walking in legged robots on uneven terrains by just learning a single linear policy. Manan has also worked as a Project Intern at Siemens, where he worked on controlling the straight-line and turning movements of self-balancing bots on various terrains using Pybullet Simulation Platform. He trained the bot with different control algorithms like PID, Model Free Adaptive Controller (MFAC), Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Algorithm (SPSA), Iterative Feedback Learning (IFL), and Reinforcement Learning (RL) and compared the stability of the bot in each case on different terrains. Manan has a diverse educational background, including a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and a High School Diploma in Science from S.D. Jain Modern School, Surat. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Robotics at IISc and is expected to complete it in 2026. Manan has a strong tech stack that includes Web development, research scientist, and reinforcement learning. With over a year of relevant experience, Manan is a dedicated and driven individual who is passionate about robotics and its applications. He is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to learn and grow in his field.
