Manjunath (Manju) Bhat is a seasoned Research VP at Gartner, with over 20 years of experience in the technology industry. He specializes in DevOps, cloud, automation, software engineering, and open-source software. Manjunath advises clients on various software engineering and platform engineering initiatives that bridge application development and infrastructure engineering boundaries. He has a keen eye for applying software engineering practices to infrastructure delivery to drive higher business value from cloud-enabled innovation. Manjunath is an expert in the future of work research initiatives and sees the shift from project to product-based operating models and the transition to cloud-native architectures as two tectonic shifts affecting DevOps. He is adept at building and leading R&D teams from scratch and had the opportunity to build VMware AirWatch India operations as its first employee. He was tasked with building a world-class R&D organization from scratch, and AirWatch was acquired by VMware in 2014. Before that, Manjunath graduated from developer to architect of scalable, fault-tolerant, load-balanced, high-volume, mission-critical transactional systems. He was responsible for the technical architecture of warehouse automation software that powered one of the world's biggest warehouses for AVON in 2009. Manjunath has an MS in Software Systems from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, and a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar. He is equally comfortable talking to technology providers and end-user organizations and has worked with leading banks of India and other IT MNCs.
