Marcio Zacarias is a Senior Software Engineer at The New York Times, where he works on the DV Observability Team, specializing in observability platforms, continuous delivery, and general CNCF/Kubernetes technologies. With over 10 years of experience in the industry, Marcio has a large experience with backend services and professional experience with frontend web development, mobile development, and game development. He also has academic experience with virtual & augmented reality and human-machine interaction. Marcio is proficient in several languages and frameworks, including Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, Ruby (Rails), Python, and Terraform. He also has professional-level experience with frontend (JS/HTML/CSS), C++, Java/Android, XSLT/XML, C, C#, and SQL. Prior to joining The New York Times, Marcio worked as a Cloud Solutions Architect and Team Lead at EverQuote, where he was responsible for managing technical support/mentoring, project planning, weekly 1:1s, and sprint planning. He also led the project for registering a huge load and short-lived browser-side metrics solution using PromJS and Prometheus Aggregation Gateway and was responsible for organizing the development work across several teams for the Renters Vertical project. Marcio holds an MBA from Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to his technical skills, Marcio is also a product manager and has experience in infrastructure development.
