Marco Suma is an accomplished software engineer with nearly a decade of experience in building systems and teams at scale. He is currently serving as the Lead Software Engineer at Facebook Business Integrity (BI) in Singapore, where he is responsible for building solutions to help customers preserve their intellectual property from possible counterfeit, trademark, and copyright infringement. Marco believes in the value of protecting users no matter who they are, and he is proud to invest time and effort in making the brand experience in Facebook better every day. Before joining Facebook, Marco worked as a Software Engineer in Google's Trust & Safety department. His team was responsible for creating internal tooling that provides solutions to reviewers on fighting abuse and protecting the company and its customers from fraudulent behavior. He led a project that enabled users to review clustered accounts collected via machine learning. Marco is incredibly proud of what he did at Google and couldn't imagine a more important or fulfilling mission than promoting trust in Google and keeping users safe. Prior to Google, Marco worked as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services, where he was part of the Monitoring Team. His team was responsible for offering customers a monitoring tool named AWS CloudWatch, which helps customers monitor the performance of their systems. Marco played a vital role in designing and implementing the API interface of AWS CloudWatch, which handles millions of calls per minute. Marco completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Systems Engineering from Politecnico di Bari, where he graduated with an overall classification of 110 cum laude / 110. His master thesis in Image Processing and Machine Vision is named "Design and Implementation of a Touchable Multimedia Projected Desktop over General Surfaces Using a Depth Sensor and a Projector." He also completed his school graduation as a Perito Informatico Industriale from I.T.I.S. G.Giorgi - Brindisi, Via Amalfi. Marco's tech stack includes AWS, software engineering, senior software engineering, image processing, Android, search, web, and ML.
