Marion Daly is an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong focus on user privacy. Currently, she works at meta as an Engineering Manager - User Privacy, where she has helped build out the Critical Commitment safeguard team. Under her leadership, the team has grown from 2 to 9 full-time employees, and she has introduced processes to improve relations with product teams to reduce churn in privacy reviews. Marion has an impressive track record of success in her past roles. She worked at Apple as an Engineering Manager - Privacy, where she built the User Privacy Tools team from the ground up and hired many new engineers. She also led the creation of new tools and features designed to enhance user privacy, including the App Privacy Report, a major tentpole feature for iOS 15, which she acted as Engineering DRI for and organized/managed the work of dozens of engineers. She interacted with senior leadership, UX leadership, and stakeholders across the entirety of Apple to build the feature. Unfortunately, she had to leave Apple due to cancer recovery. Before joining meta, Marion worked at The New York Times as a Senior Engineering Manager, reporting directly to the senior vice president of product engineering. She led the creation of a new mission organization around messaging platforms consisting of four teams and successfully led the distributed working group on a mission to find a new remote office. She also mentored both engineers and engineering managers and worked with leadership and the team to develop budgets, OKRs, SLAs, and mission goals for 2020. She encouraged the team to develop into a cross-functional and openly collaborative environment, whereas before they were siloed. She managed an organization with three engineering managers and over 18 engineers. Marion has a strong educational background, with a Master of Arts in Modern European History and American History (Double Major) from Providence College, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & History (Double Major) from Roger Williams University, and an Associate of Science in Web Site Development from Johnson and Wales University. She also has 10.03 years of relevant experience as a Senior Software Engineer and iOS developer.
