Marissa Le Coz is a Senior Software Engineer at Twitter with over five years of relevant experience. She has gained varied experience as an iOS developer across three different teams. Marissa started her career at Twitter as a client infrastructure engineer, focusing on media specifically. During this time, she was able to rack up experience in architecting systems and observing what can go wrong. After two and a half years, she switched to a user-facing feature team, the Relationships Team, to hone her experience building UIs at industry standard and to sharpen her cross-functional collaboration skills. During this time, she was promoted to Senior SWE. In June 2022, Marissa was re-orged to the Home Experience team, which builds features for the home timeline of the app. She is excited to work on such a high-traffic surface. Before starting at Twitter, Marissa was a student at Dartmouth College, where she studied computer science. She didn't have an iOS course, but she nevertheless decided to make an iOS app for her senior honors thesis. After binge-watching an iOS dev online course, binge-reading the Swift manual, conducting user research, iterating on designs, and many hours of coding, she produced NovenaNetwork, which hit the App Store in May 2017 and is still available today (with 4.9 stars and over two hundred reviews). It was during this project that she decided she wanted to be an iOS engineer professionally. Besides engineering work itself, Marissa is also passionate about mentorship and creating a team culture where everyone feels empowered to share their ideas. She has worked at Twitter for over four years, gaining experience as an iOS engineer on various features that enable users to change who can reply to their tweet after tweeting, send notifications to users whose tweets have been retweeted by a popular account, and more. Marissa has also mentored an iOS intern, whose summer project was a feature giving users a "heads up" before joining a potentially heated conversation. Marissa holds a Bachelor's Degree and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Dartmouth College. She is proficient in iOS, Swift, Research Scientist, UI, and software engineering.
