Mark Cordell is a Senior Software Engineer with over 8 years of experience in the tech industry. He is currently working with Snorkel AI as a Senior Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team, focusing on Enterprise Readiness features. Mark is responsible for building out the non-ML features that clients need to integrate with their existing infrastructure. He is also the lead engineer on security issues within the platform and has championed initial discussions around how to securely make the platform ready to be publicly facing. Mark runs monthly security meetings and is the lead engineer on API authentication, including the implementation of API keys for programmatic access. In his current role, Mark has implemented invite links, a unique system to invite users to an instance of Snorkel Flow. He has also created a framework for auditing all requests made in the platform for meeting customer compliance requirements. Mark has mentored early engineers and interns on best practices in software development and DevOps. Prior to his current role, Mark worked with Snorkel AI as a Senior Software Engineer on the Backend Team. As an early engineer, he had a dual focus on software engineering for foundational services and DevOps. He developed the initial DevOps platform, including terraform modules for client instance spinup and packer build for AMI development. Mark was also the lead engineer on Snorkel Flow licensing, a cryptographically secure licensing system, with setting customer limits and preventing license reuse, even in air-gapped environments. Before joining Snorkel AI, Mark worked with Twitch as a Software Engineer on the Safety Team. He was the lead on front-end and GraphQL queries for the Warnings project and a full-stack developer on the moderation platform, writing Typescript and Go. Mark also researched using neural networks to detect inappropriate content. Mark holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Technology from Purdue University. He has experience in software engineering, infrastructure, AI, DevOps, ML, terraform, backend, frontend, Typescript, and neural networks.
