Mark Edwards is an experienced technical leader with a proven track record of successful product development in the manufacturing and IoT industries. He is currently serving as an Engineering Manager at Meta, where he leads a 6-person software engineering team to drive the adoption of ad automation products that personalize ad creatives (images, videos, and text) resulting in improved advertiser performance. Under his leadership, the feature adoption rate increased from 0.4% to 11% over six months, resulting in $142 million dollars annually in new revenue to Meta. Prior to joining Meta, Mark served as the Vice President of Engineering and Innovation at KCF Technologies, Inc., where he led a 65-person cross-functional engineering team including software, hardware, DevOps, and data science engineers. He created multiple successful commercial hardware and software products generating multiple $10's of millions in revenue annually with nearly 200,000 deployed devices. Mark also built, led, and later handed off the corporate IT and customer technical support teams. Mark also worked as a Software Engineering Manager at KCF Technologies, where he scaled and led a 35-person software engineering team from the ground up. He created and led the development of a cloud-based IoT SaaS sensor platform used by manufacturers to save over $1 billion in maintenance costs annually. Mark developed firmware and software for sensors and device gateways, deployed nearly 200,000 devices into harsh manufacturing conditions, and built support for secure, remote update, diagnostics, and maintenance of these devices. He also deployed and operated a computing infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, supported the ingress, storage, and processing of over 700TB of sensor data, and instituted first-in-class software life cycle development methodologies including SCRUM/Agile, continuous software delivery, integration testing, DevOps, and immutable infrastructure. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. He is a skilled manager with a track record of building and mentoring high-performing technical teams. Mark has an extensive tech stack that includes senior software engineering, DevOps, data scientist, AWS, infra, Terraform, test, and integration. With 22.04 years of relevant experience, Mark is a pioneer with broad engineering experience in sensors, manufacturing controls, and cloud-based software systems.
