Mark Ettema is a Lead Developer Design System at NN with over 12 years of relevant experience in design, front-end development, entrepreneurship, and practical training. He started his journey in graphic design in 2003 and landed his first paid project as a web designer in 2004. From 2005 to 2012, he worked as an entrepreneur, where he gained expertise in design, front-end development, board membership, and practical training. In 2013, Mark started working for the largest digital agency in the Netherlands, where he worked on his first Agile Scrum single team project. He earned his Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) and Cambridge English: First (FCE) certifications in 2014 and worked on his first scaled Agile Scrum project using SAFe. He also gained experience in handling high traffic applications with thousands of concurrent users. In 2016, Mark started working for one of the largest webshops in the Netherlands, where he worked on changing code with code using AST and back-end development with cloud infrastructure using web and AWS serverless. He started working remotely from Mexico in 2019 and is currently remote from the Netherlands. Mark's past companies include hostnet bv, where he worked as a sales team member and gained knowledge about domain name registry and DNS. He also worked as a junior graphic designer at niek braun bv, where he gained expertise in web design, graphic design, sign, and expo. His strength was in front-end development. Mark's education history includes a degree in Graphic Design/Interactive Design from the Grafisch Lyceum Amsterdam and several language courses, including Spanish and English. He is currently self-teaching relevant Computer Science (CS) topics and has scored in the top 15% of ~900,000 people for Agile Methodologies in LinkedIn Skill Assessments. Mark's tech stack includes front-end development, AWS, backend development, web, infrastructure, CI/CD, software engineering, SQL, product management, Docker, integration, and VueJS.
