Marta Fonda is a seasoned engineering manager with over 7 years of experience in product engineering. She has a strong background in startups and has experience in starting a company. Marta is currently serving as the Senior Engineering Manager for the Education Team at Handshake, where she is responsible for building high-performance teams, managing product management, and executing product planning. Marta is a speaker and mentor, and she holds a B.S.E. in Computer Science and a B.B.A in Business Administration. Her specialties include startups, software engineering, hiring, marketplaces, and product planning & execution. In her previous role as an Engineering Manager for Handshake, Marta established the first product engineering team, hired and managed a team of 6 engineers and product designers, and worked with external teams in Spain and Silicon Valley. She led the frontend, design, and product team, identified milestones, and tracked deliverables for business-critical pipelines. Marta also mentored, led, and grew a team of top-talent senior software engineers with strong technical and operational capabilities to reach their potential. Marta defined and executed the roadmap by collaborating with Engineer, Product, Design, and Operations teams, guided design, development, and operations for business-critical pipelines, and led software engineering decision-making to meet project goals. She also contributed to overall company growth by growing the product to be scalable and support customers from small and medium businesses to multinationals. Marta holds a Bachelor of Software Engineering (B.S.E.) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. She also completed a Web Development course from Ironhack. Her technical skills include senior software engineering, product management, frontend and backend development, and infrastructure.
