Martina Fernandez is a skilled Software Engineer and NLP researcher with over 6 years of relevant experience in the industry. Currently working with BT, Martina is a part-time secondment researcher within the Applied Research Unit, where she uses her expertise in Machine Learning and NLP models to carry out research work for the development of tools to improve customer experience. Prior to her current role, Martina worked as a Software Engineer within the Dynamic Infrastructure unit at BT. Her full-stack role involved working with a range of technologies including Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Docker, Cucumber, Selenium, and Spring Boot. Martina also worked as a Trainee Software Engineer at BT, where she received training through the BT furtHER Digital Intensive Bootcamp. This program was designed to equip women passionate about tech with technical skills for full-stack development. Throughout the training, Martina covered a range of topics including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Python, Cybersecurity, Agile, and development principles such as clean code and pair programming. She completed multiple projects for assessment, including creating a phonebook system using Python and SQL, a story generator using Flask, Heroku, and Python, and multiple websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Martina holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Applied and Theoretical Linguistics from the University of Cambridge, as well as a Nanodegree in Data Foundations from Udacity. She also completed her A-Levels at Bacon's College.
