Masaru Nomura is an experienced software engineer with a passion for open source software. He has a strong background in back-end development and is proficient in programming languages such as Scala, Python, Java, C, and JavaScript (Vue.js). His technical stack includes PlayFramework, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, Ansible, sbt, and Protocol Buffers. He is particularly interested in Scala-related projects and has contributed to several open source projects such as Scala, scalaz, PlayFramework, and Akka. Masaru is currently working as a Software Engineer at Square. In his previous role at Dwango, he was responsible for automating the deployment in their private cloud using Ansible and worked on the push-notification service team. He was also a part of the real-time streaming infrastructure team using Scala and Kafka. He was awarded as the best team out of six new grad engineering teams and implemented the task scheduler infrastructure system and internal employee information integration system. Masaru has also worked as a Scala Software Engineer (Contract) at Hatena. During his tenure, he implemented third-party API integration, added back-end implementation based on PlayFramework in Scala, and contributed to the development of the internal Scala utility libraries. Masaru holds a Master's degree in Distributed Systems from Imperial College London. He has contributed to the Linux kernel and fixed kernel memory leak of VMware driver. He has a strong technical background and is skilled in software engineering, Scala, back-end development, Ansible, JavaScript, integration, Kafka, infra, test, Jenkins, and search.
