Matt Neerincx is a Principal Software Developer with over 28 years of relevant experience in the field. Currently working with Microsoft, he is responsible for the Azure SQL Database team and is involved in the latest cloud service offerings. He is a Principal Developer/Architect for the SQL Azure database service team, where he has co-authored 11 patents for the SQL Server team in the connectivity/advanced routing space. Matt has worked on various projects, including the billing system and certificate management system for Azure SQL Database. He was also involved in the development of the new connectivity APIs for SQL Server AlwaysOn for SQL 2012, where he helped redesign TDS protocols to enable protocol feature negotiation between client and server. He has consistently designed and supported a consistent architecture across all Java, .NET, and Linux drivers. In addition, Matt has worked on several projects for SQL Server, including the Table Valued Parameter (SQL) for SQL 2008, the SQL Server server-side TDS and SOAP protocol layers for SQL 2005/2008/2012, and the SQL Server JDBC Driver 2008. He is also the author of the TDS parser for Netmon 2005. Before joining Microsoft, Matt spent eight years as a Senior Escalation Engineer for various client-side and server-side database technologies. During this time, he learned a great deal about deep debugging techniques and wrote his own debugger extension for Windbg and tools to parse Netmon traces to parse TDS protocol out of the trace. He debugged the most complex problems for Microsoft customers worldwide.
