Matt Ward is a highly skilled Director of Engineering with over 12 years of relevant experience. He is a Serverless Expert who has successfully architected solutions scaling monoliths to microservices for the enterprise in fully serverless topologies. Matt is currently working at Living Security, where he is responsible for architecture and implementation - full SDLC - of three different products. He has grown the engineering team from sole developer to more than 30 on and offshore, and scaled the application from 10k to 1M+ users. Matt has a proven track record of delivering quality code that solves problems and delivers value. He has built out, maintained, and secured cloud infrastructure, implemented enterprise identity management solutions, and dealt directly with fortune 500 IT groups to achieve successful outcomes in product delivery to their end users. He has also introduced HLS adaptive bit rate video streaming to platform and built streaming synchronized team-based training applications. Matt has built out the software development process from the ground up adding code reviews, testing, feature flags, and release management. He conducts 1:1s, monitors performance with KPIs and metrics, and represents engineering through technical due diligence during investment rounds. Matt has also added ATS for hiring in all departments at the company. Matt has a diverse educational background, including a Cybersecurity degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Software Engineering degree from Vermont Technical College, and a Business degree from Community College of Vermont. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Colchester High School. Matt is proficient in AWS, Elasticsearch, Java, Python, React, Docker, Tableau, Serverless Framework, Microservices, and Cloudformation.
