Matthew Saxon is an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with a passion for automation. With over 7 years of relevant experience, Matthew has a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry. Currently, Matthew works as a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Skillz Inc., where he is responsible for building and maintaining the company's cloud-based platform. Prior to this, Matthew worked as a Full Stack Developer at USAA Labs and Bank Innovation. During his time at USAA, he designed and implemented new features that improved the experience of members participating in the innovation process. He also reviewed team code for quality and best practices to help foster a community of coding excellence. Matthew led the effort to create a digital cancellation experience for Extended Vehicle Protection and modernized the back-end monolith to 11 spring boot microservices resulting in prod release timeline decreasing from 2 weeks to 1 hour. He also developed a cloud-based platform connecting to multiple vendor integrations via RESTful APIs and created an automated functional test suite covering a range of APIs supporting vendor integration. Matthew's education background includes a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education and Computer Science from Trinity University and General Studies from Navarro College.
