Matthew Thompson is a seasoned Software Engineer and Woodworker with over 12 years of relevant experience. As a software engineer, he is passionate about pushing boundaries and finding the perfect balance between technology and human interaction. He believes in building with a purpose and is currently working with AWS, GraphQL, Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby/Rails, and Node/React. Apart from his professional work, Matthew also enjoys woodworking and believes in the simple life, unplugged. He is currently learning to build with the resources he has and is training the next generation to think the same. Matthew is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at echobind, where he uses the right tools for the job. His past experience includes working as a Software Developer/Team Lead at El Toro IP Targeting, where he re-architected a legacy Meteor application and packages to multiple Elixir services and React Frontend, providing a more stable, scalable cross-team platform. He also managed tasks and onboarding processes for Full-Stack/Front-End team and interns. His tech stack at El Toro included Elixir, Phoenix, GraphQL, React, and Python. Before joining El Toro, Matthew worked as a Software Developer at the same company, where he built custom web applications for employees and customers to use El Toro services. His tech stack included Node, React, Meteor, MongoDB, and Elixir. Matthew is a graduate of Georgetown College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. He is proficient in Software Engineering, Frontend, Ruby, MongoDB, and Web technologies.
