Matthew Titmus is an experienced software and reliability engineer with a diverse background in tool development, automation, and monitoring. He is currently an Engineering Team Lead at Yext, where he leads the Axon team responsible for Site Reliability Engineering. Matthew is also the author of Cloud Native Go, a book published by O'Reilly Media. Matthew's background includes distributed systems, machine learning, and computational genomics. He is passionate about education and continuous self-improvement, which drives him to advance himself, his team, and his organization towards the best possible versions of themselves. Prior to joining Yext, Matthew worked at Coinbase as a Senior Software Engineer in Observability. He was also an Engineering Team Lead at Flatiron Health, where he led a team of SREs and SWEs to maintain and improve the foundation of Flatiron Health's technical stack. Matthew designed and executed a complex, multi-quarter initiative to overhaul the organization's cloud infrastructure, leading to significant security, usability, and cost improvements. He engaged in extended negotiations with vendors to reach the best possible outcome for both parties. Matthew holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Molecular and Cellular Biology (Molecular Pathology) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University.
