Maulik Kandpal, E.I.T. is an electrical engineer with a specialization in power and energy systems. He is passionate about power system studies, energy markets, renewable energy systems, power transmission and distribution, and the application of power electronics in power systems. With a master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Arizona State University, Maulik has gained expertise in PSLF, PSS/E, DAYZER, UPLAN, PROMOD, SQL, PLECS, MatLab, MATHCAD, Python, Tableau, PowerWorld, ETAP, Arc Flash Analysis, and AutoCAD. Currently working as a Transmission Planning Engineer at DNV GL - Oil & Gas, Maulik has performed energy congestion and curtailment studies for solar and wind farms developers using PROMOD. He has also understood external client's main interests and drivers and prepared project reports and shared the project progress at regular intervals. Maulik has extensive experience in preparing inputs for power simulation software by reading and understanding the reports and engineering procedures published and followed by independent system operators across the US. In the past, Maulik has worked as a Hardware Engineering Intern at V5 Systems, where he researched wind and solar technologies and implemented methods in charging the battery system. He has also tested small wind turbine systems from different manufacturers for application in battery charging and implemented different power technologies as well as circuitry design and productization of technologies into final solutions. As a Research Scholar at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Maulik worked on a project to integrate solar photovoltaic power generating system to the electrical grid using multilevel converters. Simulation studies were done using MatLab, and hardware studies were done using dSPACE and Solar PV array simulator. Maulik has a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering and has relevant experience of 7.19 years. His technical skills and experience make him a valuable asset to any team working in the power and energy systems domain.
