Max Vilimpoc is a highly experienced Senior Embedded Systems Engineer with over 18 years of relevant experience in the field. Currently, he is on a sabbatical from his self-directed company, where he is working on a book about embedded hardware and software development. Max has built a hardware prototype for the book, explaining the process of capturing requirements, architecture, and design documentation. He has also designed, procured components for, and assembled three different PCB designs using ARM Cortex-M and Atmel microcontrollers for private projects. Max has improved his knowledge and practice of 3D printing, part procurement, and inventory management, ensuring that he has the right components on hand to build the prototypes he wants. In his previous role as Embedded Software Lead at unu gmbh, Max wrote a ton of bare-metal and RTOS-based C/C++ code for battery-powered embedded systems using custom PCBs and off-the-shelf hardware. He designed and clarified hardware and software requirements for suppliers, researched, tested, and qualified electronic components, sensors, and actuators, and prototyped with Bluetooth, microcontroller, and sensor evaluation kits. Max also implemented cryptographic keystore, key generation, threat modeling, and communications for wireless unlock and built Linux systems from scratch on NXP i.MX6 application processors. He collaborated with electronics and web team leads to enable cloud-connected services and defined CAN, Bluetooth, and near-field control protocols.
