Maxime Petazzoni is a seasoned engineering leader with over 15 years of experience in software development across various languages and technologies. He has a passion for impactful technology, large scale distributed systems, real-time data processing pipelines, and open source. Maxime loves building products and bringing teams together to solve technical challenges. Maxime started his career at MontaVista software working on the Linux kernel and embedded systems. He then joined Turn's platform team in 2010, where he helped scale their core components 10x to over 1M requests/sec with a global, highly-available presence. In 2013, Maxime joined SignalFx, the leading SaaS real-time monitoring solution for modern, distributed applications. He was a single-digit employee and helped design and build the product, infrastructure, and distributed systems behind it. Maxime worked for several years on SignalFx's core technology of real-time streaming analytics (SignalFlow™️). In 2018, he led the architecture, development, and launch of SignalFx's Microservices APM (µAPM) solution. SignalFx was acquired by Splunk in 2019 for $1.05B. Both SignalFlow and µAPM were key technology differentiators that contributed to Splunk's acquisition of SignalFx. At Splunk, Maxime is the Head of Engineering and Technical Lead for Splunk APM within the Splunk Observability suite. He manages multiple engineering scrum teams working on Splunk APM, with a focus on SaaS-side backend development, frontend product experience, and cloud operations. Maxime is responsible for building and growing the engineering organization responsible for building Splunk's Application Performance Monitoring products. Maxime's past experience includes working as an Engineering Manager at Splunk, continuing his role as an engineering lead on SignalFx's Microservices APM within Splunk. He was also an Engineering Manager at SignalFx, where he was the architect, technical lead, and engineering manager for SignalFx's Microservices APM solution. Maxime holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from utbm and a Master's degree in Computer Technology/Computer Systems Technology from université de haute-alsace mulhouse-colmar.
