Maya Li is a seasoned software engineer with over 10 years of relevant experience. She has a strong background in backend development, integration, and infrastructure. Currently, Maya works as a Staff Software Engineer at Calm, where she is responsible for developing software that promotes a healthy world. In her first year at Calm, Maya worked on product-side backend services. In year two, she led a team of engineers to create the Calm B2B integration API and supported B2B sales and onboarding with a partner portal. At the end of year two, she started work as a team lead for a new product infrastructure team, where she focuses on platform reliability and scalability, developer productivity, and security. Prior to joining Calm, Maya worked at Helix, where she held two roles: Senior Software Engineer and Principal Software Engineer. As a Senior Software Engineer, she worked on multiple Golang services and front-end React/redux web applications for user sample registration. As a Principal Software Engineer, she led the platform team, which delivered microservices in Golang that formed the core of the Helix software architecture. She also worked with the DevOps team to create terraformed re-usable pub/sub components with SNS/SQS/Lambda to speed up the development of features that require pub/sub architecture. Maya holds a PhD in Biomedical and Health Informatics and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Neurobiology, both from the University of Washington. Her technical skills include Golang, microservices, DevOps, Redux, frontend development, and web development.
