Mayank Bendarkar is a PhD candidate at the Aerospace Systems Design Lab (ASDL) at Georgia Tech, working under the guidance of Dr. Dimitri Mavris. He specializes in optimizing system risk, reliability, and performance of innovative concepts and technologies in early aircraft design and sizing. Mayank's research interests are broad and include using first principles, physics-based analyses, and probabilistic methods in aircraft/system design and optimization. Mayank has also worked on certification by analysis, modeling of electric cars, more-electric aircraft subsystems analysis & optimization, and estimating power requirements for aircraft wing anti/de-icing. He gained experience in aircraft structural analysis (FEM), aircraft design, and wind tunnel testing during his undergraduate days at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Currently, Mayank is a Senior Graduate Researcher at ASDL and has previously worked as a Graduate Researcher and Graduate Research Assistant at the same organization. He has a total of 4.86 years of relevant experience. Mayank holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, which he completed in 2018. Prior to this, he earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He also holds a Bachelor's degree from the same institute. Mayank's tech stack includes Research Scientist and Test.
