Mayank Tripathi is a hands-on manager/engineer with over 15 years of experience in developing products from scratch, involving design/architecture to deployment with capacity and infrastructure planning. He specializes in Large Scale Micro Services, Real-Time, Horizontal Scaling, Fault Tolerance, High Availability, Cloud-Deployment, and Multi-Tenancy. Currently, he is the Head of Engineering at Tokopedia, where he is responsible for building and maintaining a scalable, distributed, and resilient platform to serve meaningful ads to buyers at the peak traffic of 100k requests/second. He is also helping move machine learning models in production to better serve the customers and sellers. Mayank is working towards moving from a huge monolith architecture towards a microservice architecture. He is increasing system reliability by incrementally improving the SDLC process via Chaos Testing, CI/CD Pipelines with integration tests suite, Monitoring, Capacity Planning, and AB Testing, Trunk Based Development to ensure increased revenue and cost savings. In his previous role as the Principal Technical Architect at Tokopedia, Mayank transformed the legacy system into a solid and scalable platform by following best practices in software development. He helped achieve high scales across search services to serve more than 30% more QPS in comparison to the previous capability by adding caching and various code optimizations. He also worked on L2R, Semantic matching, K2K, K2P, and KSeg models to make search better and more relevant for customers. He upgraded the golang version and elastic search with no downtime and derived a server-side circuit breaker system to help reach high availability of services. Prior to Tokopedia, Mayank worked as a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Chegg, where he engaged with the technical hiring team and built a team of 15+ strong and self-driven engineers starting from 2 engineers. He led various technology initiatives across Chegg and helped other engineering teams adopt the solution. He drove technical design and architecture discussion to deliver resilient, scalable, efficient, and optimized code to production. He also managed vendors such as AWS, monitoring tools, third-party application tools, and assessment platforms. Mayank holds a Bachelor of Technology - BTech in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi.
