Melissa Cagan is a talented and ambitious individual currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Design at Carnegie Mellon University. With a strong background in education and social policy, Melissa has developed a passion for teaching and inspiring others. Her experience in the field has equipped her with excellent communication and organizational skills, making her a valuable asset to any team. Currently working as a Student Accounts Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University, Melissa is responsible for acting as a point of contact for students with questions about refunds and balances. She also organizes and compiles file folders for loan recipients, and creates and edits documents for government and college officials. Prior to this, Melissa worked as an Assistant Event Coordinator at the university, where she assisted with the planning and execution of the RI40 event, celebrating the 40th anniversary of CMU’s Robotics Institute. She also organized and managed data regarding 500+ event attendees, oversaw the creation and distribution of informational and complimentary materials for all attendees. Melissa’s passion for education has also led her to work as a Museum Educator at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Here, she taught programs centered around history, environmental science, and the natural world to audiences of all ages, both in and outside of the museum. She also assisted with museum events such as birthday parties, overnight visits, and after-dark festivals, and educated about live animal ambassadors to promote awareness of wild animals and conservation efforts. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University, where she majored in Learning Sciences. She is also a talented designer and has a tech stack that includes design skills. With 6.61 years of relevant experience, Melissa is a skilled and dedicated individual who is passionate about education, design, and inspiring others.
