Melissa Dalis is a seasoned data science professional with over 9 years of relevant experience. She is currently serving as the Senior Data Science Manager at Instagram, where she leads teams responsible for building recommendation systems used across various platforms, including Feed, Reels, and Explore. Additionally, she oversees the development of ML-based solutions that help creators and producers get more reach and inspire them to create more content. Melissa is currently hiring data scientists and data science managers of all levels in New York, London, San Francisco, and US/EMEA remote. Before joining Instagram, Melissa worked as a Data Science Manager at Mindstrong, where she led a data science group that focused on intelligent monitoring, growth, engagement, efficiency, clinical product, and clinical outcomes. She worked on a variety of problems spanning machine learning, causal inference, optimization, analysis, and NLP to grow Mindstrong's business efficiently, improve outcomes for members, and build a great product. Prior to that, she worked as a Senior Data Scientist & Tech Lead at Uber, where she tech-led the Core Matching data science group and developed many of the machine learning models and optimization criteria used to match riders and drivers. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, and a minor in Economics from Duke University. She has a strong technical background and is proficient in various technologies, including Data Science, ML, Recommendation systems, NLP, Research Scientist, and Senior Software Engineer. Melissa is a highly motivated individual with a track record of delivering results. She is an excellent communicator and collaborator, with a passion for mentoring and developing talent.
