Her journey into software engineering began while working as a social worker with child protective services, where she created her first number guessing game in Python. This experience made her realize that software engineering would be the perfect way to combine her love for learning, solving problems, and creating things. Mena is skilled in several programming languages, including Python, JavaScript (AJAX, JSON), HTML, CSS, and SQL. She is also proficient in various frameworks and libraries such as Flask, jQuery, Bootstrap, Jinja, and React, as well as industry tools like PostgreSQL, Git, GitHub, and Command Line. Her expertise in these areas enables her to develop efficient and effective software solutions that meet the needs of her clients. Prior to her current role, Mena worked as a Social Worker at Contra Costa County, where she coordinated with foster family agencies, short-term residential treatment facilities, social workers, and foster parents to find appropriate and timely placements for foster children. She also managed and prioritized up to 10 child placement referral cases based on the child's needs and varying deadlines. Additionally, she scheduled, coordinated, and facilitated supervised visitation for foster children with their parents and maintained detailed, objective documentation of all client interactions for potential use in juvenile court. Mena holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Saint Mary's College of California and completed a Software Engineering program at Hackbright Academy.
