Merwane Hamadi is a highly skilled Lead Engineer with over 10 years of experience in the field of search and analytics. Currently, he works at Redica Systems as a Lead Backend Engineer, Search, where he leads the app team responsible for building high-end search and analytics on regulatory intelligence data. Merwane is adept at converting relational databases into powerful full-text search and analytics engines, which involves building indices that can meet current and future search needs, synchronizing primary data stores to these indices, and ensuring that the mapper RDBMS => Elasticsearch is functioning correctly. Merwane's expertise also includes building and testing template searches to enable easy querying of Elasticsearch by the team consuming it, monitoring clusters in production, optimizing queries, indices, and cluster settings to achieve the best latency and throughput, and repeating the process to ensure high-quality results. He believes that a good search should provide high speed/throughput, autosuggest, typo tolerance, facets, and be easy to consume and maintain by developers, as well as easy to modify when features change. Additionally, Merwane provides the ability to perform complex analytics and drill down (faceted reports) and visualizes it on Kibana before developing the UI so that stakeholders can change their requirements without any cost.
