Michael Mroz is an experienced and passionate software engineer with a preference for functionally-influenced programming. He has worked primarily in Scala, C# and Node against both relational and non-relational stores on a variety of applications that range from performing commodity price regressions for the Australian stock market to the authentication platform for an entire cloud software suite. With almost 9 years of relevant experience, Michael has a proven track record of designing and building distributed systems in a microservice architecture. Currently, Michael is working as a Principal Software Engineer at MonetizeNow, where he is responsible for logical design of distributed systems, and performance and reliability at scale. He has historically worked across the full web application stack, though in recent years he has been less involved in front-end development. Prior to joining MonetizeNow, Michael worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Atlassian, where he designed and built distributed systems in a microservice architecture using purely functional Scala, functionally-inspired async Java and Kotlin, and NodeJS in Javascript and Typescript. He was tasked with tackling the slow rate of adoption of Platform systems by new and acquired products, and he conceived, pitched and delivered a data transformation framework in functional Typescript, which reduced the time involved for adoption of capabilities from weeks or even months, to minutes. The solution was designed to additionally permit easy incremental abstraction, to tidy and simplify Platform as a long-term goal. Michael's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Software Engineering from Curtin University, where he graduated in 2014. He also completed his high school education from Willetton Senior High School in 2010. Michael's tech stack includes Software Engineering, Frontend, Scala, Typescript, Microservices, Web, Javascript, NodeJS, and Java.
