Mike Fogg is a seasoned software engineer with over 20 years of experience in the industry. He has a passion for architecting applications and has repeatedly built new titles from the ground up. Mike is adept with Java and has experience supporting massively multiplayer game services using Spring Framework with WebSockets, and previously, Smartfox Server. He is an OSGI enthusiast which he describes as the original microservices architecture. Mike also reliably employs Python to solve problems when less overhead is desirable. In the past, Mike has been a PHP expert, and has employed the language and its ubiquitous stack for a wide range of solutions during his career. He has experience at startups which means he is accustomed to wearing many hats. He frequently fulfills DevOps and R&D roles on his projects. His most recent experience has had him managing live operations, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, big data engineering, and serving as DBA. Mike is a quick learner and picks up new languages and technologies quickly, sometimes for use in only a single project. The cross-pollination of ideas from the various languages, frameworks, and persistence systems he has used leads him to better solutions. Currently, Mike is the VP Engineering at artie.
