Mithinga Basumatary is a skilled project manager and development professional with a strong focus on circular economy, waste management, and livelihood creation. With over 7 years of relevant experience, she has a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry. She is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, where she earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Mithinga is currently the co-founder of Betel Nation, a next-gen startup based out of small, out-of-map places, working directly with small-scale indigenous tribal producers. The company aims to preserve and share the vast, indigenous knowledge and traditions of North East India. Prior to this, she worked as a project manager at Waste Warriors Society, an NGO and registered society working in the field of solid waste management in Dehradun, Dharamsala, and around Corbett. Here, she organized direct action initiatives like clean-ups and public space transformations, offered waste management services for bulk generators and events, conducted public awareness and education programs for community engagement and development, and advocated with local civic societies and government bodies. Mithinga has also worked as an Area Business Manager at Titan Company, where she was responsible for sales target achievement of a market driven by 13 stores. She identified and converted potential franchisees, maintained relationships with current partners, ensured correct merchandise in stores as per catchment area, studied competitors and their strategy, managed teams, and drove BTL activities to increase sales, walk-ins, attracting new customers, and increasing repeat customers base. Mithinga is skilled in project and fund management, analytical modelling, market research, marketing strategy, and analytics. She is a research scientist and has a strong program and project management background. She is also experienced in public-private partnerships and has successfully created a network of government support for the implementation of various programs.
