Mohammad Akhtar Ali is a technology leader with over 15 years of relevant experience in building high volume, mission-critical platforms and products serving millions of users. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Dealshare, he is passionate about leading diverse and inclusive teams recognized for delivering results, inclusiveness, and collaboration. He believes in building great engineering teams with correct hiring and setting up engineering culture and processes, and is a big proponent of diversity in engineering teams. Mohammad has a proven track record of leading through influence, articulation and engendering buy-in to a technology vision. He possesses deep domain knowledge of e-commerce and consumer marketing/growth. His tech background includes Java, Java frameworks(Spring, Play), Messaging Queue(RabbitMQ, Kafka), DB(Mysql, MongoDB, Cassandra), Cache(Redis, Memcache, CouchDB), and he is experienced in managing large multi-disciplinary teams -Backend, Frontend, platform, SRE. Prior to his current role, Mohammad served as a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Groupon, responsible for consumer marketing, growth and pricing and promotions. He effectively led and owned delivery for the work of multiple development teams while using his highly-technical skills as a hands-on software architect. He also hired, developed, grew and retained great engineering talents, and engaged in technical discussions as a subject matter expert. He partnered with product owners, designers, and business stakeholders to build teams’ roadmaps and establish goals for the teams based on strategic insights. Mohammad holds a Master of Computer Applications - MCA from MNNIT and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from BIT.
