Mukundan Madhavan is a highly skilled Software Engineer with over 12 years of experience in the field. Currently working at Google as a Software (ML) Engineer for Google Search, he has worked on a variety of problems in the past, including predictive modeling on data sets generated by infrastructure owned by Goldman Sachs or logs generated by Operations teams that troubleshoot this infrastructure. He has also applied neural networks to certain image classification problems, provided consumer analytics using cellular call data records (CDRs), and designed application-aware traffic management algorithms for cellular networks. Mukundan has reasonable experience in C and Python programming, Linux shell scripting, and modeling tools like Matlab. He also has some experience with R, Android programming, and hardware circuits. In terms of algorithmic theory, he has a good foundation in fields like Machine learning, probability and statistics, Linear algebra, Coding and Information theory, digital signal processing. In his previous role as a Data Scientist and Tech Lead at Goldman Sachs, Mukundan led ML-based projects through their complete lifecycle, starting from use-case identification, through algorithm design and prototyping to deploying them in production. He was involved in designing a novel, patent-pending prediction pipeline to forecast peak utilization of assets, which currently monitors multiple asset classes including WAN Circuits, local disks, and its outputs are used in multiple use-cases. He also designed and implemented a Forecasting-based Anomaly Detector for detecting WAN circuit utilization anomalies and a temporal clustering algorithm to group anomalous samples into well-defined periods of sustained anomalous usage. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Mukundan was a Research Software Engineer in IBM Research India, where he worked on traffic management in Cellular data networks, implementation of various modules in a SDR-based 4G base-station stack, design of cellular base-stations for TV Whitespaces networks, and lead design/implementation of a system that interfaces with cellular base-stations to detect user presence and contextually push ads/targeted content depending on their profiles. Mukundan holds an M.S in Telecommunications from IIT and a B.Tech in Electronics and Communications Engineering from S.R.M University. He also completed his XII from Modern School in Computer Science.
