Murtaza Bawahir is a highly experienced and accomplished Vice President of Engineering at Chargebee with over 20 years of hands-on experience in building highly scalable software products. He specializes in software architecture and design, strategic planning and execution, leadership and team building, cloud, distributed systems, virtualization, networking, middleware applications, visibility and analytics, and change evangelism. Murtaza has a proven track record in leading global engineering teams and products having revenues of $200m+ from concept to deployment/transition. He has an excellent ability in hiring, mentoring, and retaining world-class Engineering teams with leadership depth. He played a pivotal role in building cloud-native middleware/gateway (SDI – SDN & NFV) for Networking & Automation solutions using opensource technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, etc. with DevOps. He also led the transformation journey from On-prem to Cloud for Product as well as Team Culture. Murtaza is highly adaptive in business transformations, amalgamation of acquired product lines, global transitions, etc. He played a key role in building R&D centers from ground-up as a part of Brocade (20 to 900+) and Huawei (40 to 2000+) journey in India. He has also represented Engineering for APJ and EMEA region for the Sales/SE community and delivered product presentations and demos for customers and partners visiting India COE. As the India Site Lead with 220+ engineers, Murtaza is a member of India COE Leadership team, driving cross product-line initiatives, innovations, cross pollinations, employee engagements, and CSR. He has excellent learning agility in grasping technology, business, and market trends. He possesses strong skills in collaboration and driving products cross-functionally and multi-site. In his previous roles, Murtaza has worked with Extreme Networks as Sr. Director, Software Engineering, and with Brocade as Director of Software Development. At Extreme Networks, he led the architecture of a Policy-based SDN solution to mitigate network attacks and optimize flows for better resource utilization using open source technologies. He also drove Broadcom T3 based platform release with 200+ Dev/QA engineers across 5 locations $150m TAM opportunity over 5 years. At Brocade, he played a key role in the Innovation journey of VCS and IP Fabric in Data Center and led the integration of NSX-VDX for VxLAN Gateway using OVSDB working with VMWare. Murtaza
