Nabil Khan is a skilled Medical Device Software Professional with over 10 years of relevant experience. He holds a Master of Science degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of North Carolina. Nabil has significant experience in leading and executing embedded software design and development efforts across a variety of medical device product codes and classifications. He has been involved in all phases of the software development life cycle, including risk management activities and development/test/VnV planning activities, with corresponding documentation generation. His design and development experience is primarily focused on Embedded Software Systems implemented in C/C++. He has extensive experience from low to high level code development and testing, including low-level drivers, custom GUI frameworks, multiDOF motion control, and other moderate-complexity control systems. Nabil is proficient in several critical standards/guidelines for medical device development, including IEC 62304:2015, ISO 14971:2012, ISO 13485:2016, ISO 60601 Collateral and select Particular standards, 21 CRF 820, and FDA Software Related Guidances to Industry. Currently, Nabil is working as a Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he is analyzing PET and SPECT scans of thyroid patients treated with radiation agent and FDG to determine effective dose absorbed in tissue. He has also created a UNC system-wide database that compiles nuclear medicine patient records and prognoses for future studies. In the past, Nabil has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he assisted in creating a system that provided real-time quantitative feedback to surgeons when placing and securing an implanted surgical chest bar in patients with moderate to severe pectus excavatum. He has also worked as an AVID S.T.E.M. Supplemental Instructor at Chapel Hill-Carborro City Schools, where he taught mathematics and science content ranging from Math 6 to Calculus BC, and Science 6 to AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Physics. Nabil is interested in growing and leveraging his skills and experience to develop and commercialize novel technologies to the Medical Device Space. He is a strong believer in structured, methodical problem-solving, with a particular focus on approaching design/development challenges in this space from a risk-based perspective.
