Nan Z. is a skilled Software Engineer with a focus on backend development, infrastructure, operating systems, databases, and network systems. Currently working at Snapchat as a Software Engineer in the Core Growth Notification Team, Nan is responsible for developing and maintaining the notification system for the platform. With a relevant experience of 3.87 years, Nan has also worked with VMware as a Software Engineer in the NSX Datastore Team. During this time, Nan contributed to the development of CorfuDB, an open-source distributed database system. Nan has also worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Bilibili Group, where they implemented Bilibili Video Cache Invoker with Golang to collect cached video info and I/O statistics, improving the video cache hit ratio in over 300 video cache CDN nodes. Nan also explored different profiling methods to find bottlenecks and decrease memory usage & CPU load, and deployed them on centralized dispatcher servers, achieving a significant reduction in above-the-fold time. Additionally, Nan designed and built a network tool based on Golang and OpenResty to calculate the latency and throughput between any two live streaming CDN nodes periodically and instantly. Nan holds a Master of Science in Computer Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, where they gained a deep understanding of software engineering principles and practices.
