Nandu Jayakumar is a highly experienced leader in the technology industry with a strong background in building and scaling teams and technologies. With over 23 years of relevant experience, he has developed a deep understanding of systems, data, analytics, and software architecture. Currently, Nandu is a Director at Facebook, where he is focused on making an impact via data. He is responsible for driving organizational change, fostering culture, and mentoring teams in the areas of big data, distributed systems, analytics, data warehousing, databases, data visualization, data science, Hadoop, Spark, cloud, and large-scale data pipelines. Before joining Facebook, Nandu built Omniscience's revolutionary AI for the insurance domain and worked at Oracle, where he was the Vice President of Engineering (Product Development). At Oracle, he led the migration of analytics cloud services to the new generation of Oracle Cloud IaaS, and evolved big data features, including direct OLAP on big data in the analytics PaaS suite. Earlier in his career, Nandu led a team at Visa that built a new data platform for the entire enterprise. His work spanned data management, business intelligence, data visualization, and advanced analytics. He was also responsible for all data APIs that served data both internally and to external partners. Nandu has also worked at Yahoo, where he built the company's first multi-petabyte analytical data repository and a fully distributed data integration engine to work at that same scale. He was part of the team that designed Yahoo's state-of-the-art web analytics system and holds multiple patents/awards for it. Nandu has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Stanford University, a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications from Bangalore University, and an SIE from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in Entrepreneurship. His tech stack includes big data, web, senior software engineer, AI, Spark, data scientist, Hadoop, integration, and mobile.
