Nathalie Rauschmayr
Senior Research Engineer at Google
About
Nathalie Rauschmayr is a Senior Applied Scientist at AWS AI, currently working at Amazon. With over 8 years of relevant experience, Nathalie is an expert in deep learning for computer vision, time series forecasting, predictive maintenance, video anomaly detection, and IoT applications. Her tasks at AWS AI range from implementing and deploying large-scale deep learning models to training and advising customers on how to leverage AWS ML services. Nathalie also develops proof-of-concepts and end-to-end solutions for various projects related to model pruning and image explainability. One of Nathalie's most significant contributions is her work on SageMaker Debugger, a new feature that allows customers to find and debug issues in machine learning model training, saving them time and costs. She has also contributed to the development of a profiling feature that automatically detects issues related to resource under-utilization in deep learning workloads. Nathalie has presented her work in several blog-posts, online tech talks, and webinars, and her research has been published at the MLSys'21 conference. Prior to joining Amazon, Nathalie worked as an R&D Machine Learning Engineer at CSEM, where she implemented deep learning models to detect and classify costly faults in railway tracks. She also developed innovative algorithms to detect redundant faults and track them over time. Nathalie helped Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) to get the prototype into production on an Nvidia DGX station. Before that, Nathalie worked at CERN as a Software Performance Engineer, where she analyzed CPU and memory-related inefficiencies of jobs running in the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). She developed performance metrics, job monitoring tools, and memory profiling tools using big data technologies to perform data analytics. Nathalie also helped LHC experiments optimize and re-engineer their software frameworks, saving several million euros of computing resources each year. Furthermore, she routinely helped the IT security team with user support, troubleshooting, and incident response. Nathalie holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from the Technical University of Braunschweig, and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Information Technology from the Cooperative State University Mannheim. Nathalie's tech stack includes AWS, AI, deep learning, ML, computer vision, Sagemaker, and web.
