Nathan is currently a Senior Software and Controls Engineer at apptronik, where he is responsible for developing cutting-edge robotics technologies. Prior to joining apptronik, Nathan worked as a Research Engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, where he led a team developing manipulator control and task and motion planning strategies for self-sustaining space habitat maintenance. He also developed control algorithms for legged systems to balance in agricultural environments while picking fruit. Nathan also worked as a Research Engineer at the Laboratory for Intelligent Decision and Autonomous Robots Lidar Lab, where he was responsible for optimizing trajectories and developing whole body model predictive control for robots such as Digit Humanoid, Cassie Biped, MIT Mini Cheetah Quadruped, and A1 Quadruped Robots. He also designed a humanoid upper body and automated legged robotics for agricultural and industrial maintenance applications. Nathan holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering/Robotics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Northridge. He is highly proficient in a range of tech stacks and is a Research Scientist by trade. Nathan's enthusiasm for robotics and his deep knowledge of Mechatronics, Design, Software, Control, and Sensing make him an invaluable asset to any team.
