Nathan Hsieh is a Senior Software Engineer with over 8 years of relevant experience in the field. He is currently working at sentry (sentry.io) as a Senior Software Engineer. Nathan has previously worked at Lyft as a Sr. Software Engineer, where he was responsible for the Infrastructure Testing Platform. He enabled end to end staging coverage and reliability and designed the "Simulated Rides" platform tool, which drove traffic at scale through their microservices, providing full end to end code coverage in staging, and load tests in production. Nathan also rebuilt the service from the ground up, cleaning up many broken flows, and enabled the service to actually provide valuable signal, consistently catching many significant errors before they make it to production. He also shifted the culture of Lyft from a yolo "Test it on production" mindset, to actually reducing the noise and valuing the signal in staging, consistently preventing major outages. Nathan has also worked at Docker as a Frontend Engineer, where he architected and built the Docker Hub from scratch, an online repository for users to store/share/manage their Docker images. He created an isomorphic/universal web application which continues to see incredible growth to over 300k users in the past year. Nathan also took ownership of building out many features of the site including Billing - handling over 18k paying subscribers over different plans, packages, and user/org accounts. Nathan holds a degree from the University of Illinois and The University of Hong Kong. He has a strong technical background and is skilled in Software Engineering, Frontend, Docker, Web, and Microservices. Nathan's code cleanliness and composability have enabled the swift onboarding of many new team members, and has made it far easier for service owners to integrate their own coverage. He is a skilled designer and has coordinated with multiple payment providers, working across platforms to unify the payout experiences.
