Neha Ranjan is a seasoned Senior Software Engineer with 7.79 years of relevant experience in designing and developing scalable Java web services, APIs, and backend data modules. Currently working at Walmart Labs, Neha has a strong background in handling data-ingestion, event-based Emails & notifications trigger mechanisms, and algorithm designing. She has played along with databases such as MySql, Cassandra, and Redshift, as well as AWS infrastructure components. Neha has worked on several projects, including the Weather Module, where she developed a framework to fetch (historical+updated) weather data from various 3rd party sources and implemented daemons & cron jobs to provide data as required with fallback mechanisms to handle missing data. She also designed & implemented scalable schemas+queries for write-intensive operations to store voluminous data. In addition, Neha has implemented data transformers & mechanisms to fetch energy utilities’ data from SFTP or S3 for the Data Ingestion Pipeline. She designed a scalable system for processing, filtering and ingesting huge daily data utilizing AWS services, also benchmarked ingestion and aggregation processes. Variations include API based ingestion, variable billing cycles & scraping from utilities’ using public APIs. Neha has also worked on the Analytics Platform (Redshift + Amazon Kinesis Firehose), where she designed flow to load streaming data to Amazon Redshift through Amazon Kinesis Firehose for analytics. She developed data synchronization scripts to remove duplicates and stale entries for better analysis. Neha utilized Redshift to check the correctness of appliance level energy disaggregation algorithms and integrated data warehousing to Redshift with data-ingestion process (to Cassandra) to get each platform’s best capabilities for different types of queries. She generated readable reports from Redshift data using Spring Hibernate to handle data retrieval, data mapping, and pagination requests. Neha holds a Master of Technology in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from IIT, where she also earned a Bachelor of Technology in the same field.
