Nick Cayou is a high technology executive with over 20 years of experience in various business functions and technology markets. He has worked in enterprise software and hardware, services, direct sales, sales leadership, business development, engineering, OEM, and VAR channel/ecosystem development. Nick is a startup co-founder, investor, and advisor with proven ability to deliver results in early-stage startups, mid-sized and large organizations within commercial and federal markets. He has specific domain expertise in cloud computing, open-source platforms, database, virtualization, analytics, Big Data technologies, Kubernetes/containers, and agile software development services. Nick is passionate about combining emerging technologies, people, and business strategy to deliver market share, revenue, and margin growth, win-win scenarios for the company, partners, and customers, ethical, sustainable, and profitable business models for new technologies, and inspiring and diverse work environments where teammates can excel and advance their careers. Currently, Nick works as the Vice President of VMware Pivotal Labs, where he leads business development and partnerships for Tanzu Labs (formerly Pivotal Labs) following VMware's acquisition of Pivotal. In his previous role as Vice President of Global Ecosystem at Pivotal Software, he led the creation and scaling of Pivotal's systems integrator programs, channel, and strategic technology partnerships with VMware, Dell, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, and others. Before that, Nick worked as the Senior Director of Federal/Global Emerging Technology Sales, Greenplum (A Division of EMC) at Dell, where he built and led the Federal Data Computing Division for EMC and generated $25+ million in revenue across the Federal DoD, Civilian and Intel market. He also introduced their newly-created Hadoop offering to market globally and generated 50+ customer wins and $30M in subscription software revenue within 12 months. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus and an Associate of Science in Imagery Systems from the Community College of the Air Force. He has experience in software engineering, Big Data, Kubernetes, data science, Azure, senior software engineering, and Hadoop.
