Nick Kramer is a seasoned technical program manager and former developer with over 19 years of experience in software development. He specializes in software for developers and has worked on every major UI platform at Microsoft, including XAML, Silverlight, WPF, Windows Forms, USER & GDI. Nick has also worked on the developer platform for Windows, Xbox, and Windows Phone. He has built tools to help developers write accessible software, a code editor for Java, and a compiler for Dylan. Nick was one of the first programmers to use C#, more than a year before its announcement and three years before its release. He has created many APIs and holds 10 patents. Currently, Nick works as a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft Teams, where he is responsible for building REST APIs for Microsoft Teams, exposed through Microsoft Graph. In his previous role as Principal Program Manager for Windows Developer Platform, XAML at Microsoft, Nick brought XAML to the Xbox, extending the Universal Windows Platform to Xbox and allowing a single app to work on both PC and Xbox. He drove deliverables across 9 feature teams, 16 PMs, and 40 developers, including optimizing the XAML controls for use with gamepads and TV displays and changing the look and feel on both PC and Xbox to create alignment. Nick also created Narrator Developer Mode, a tool for sighted users to experience apps the way blind users experience them. Developer Mode allows sighted users to quickly learn the Narrator screen reader and overcome "ear fatigue." He also defined logic to detect common accessibility mistakes as part of Visual Studio's UI Analysis. Nick has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. His tech stack includes UI and Java, and he has 27.21 years of relevant experience.
