Nico Ulbricht is a seasoned Engineering Lead with over 9 years of experience in technical and people leadership. He has a strong background in building teams through tooling, ownership, and culture, while enabling scale through infrastructure and architecture. Currently, Nico is the CTO at twinkind gmbh, where he leads the hardware and software development of a 3D Photogrammetric Full-Body Scanner. His responsibilities include orchestrating hundreds of network devices to be synchronized to a window of milliseconds, developing tools to support internal scalability, and coordinating a team of artists and developers. Nico's past experience includes working as a Software Engineer and Engineering Team Lead at Forto, where he heavily influenced the architecture and infrastructure decisions. He started with an MVP Monolith Architecture to get features out fast and later transitioned to an event-based Microservice architecture. Additionally, he led infrastructure development involving AWS and hosted their system on EC2 & ECS. He developed tooling to allow for easier management as well as an abstraction of the AWS terminology and interfaces. His experience also includes leading the development and maintenance of a Real-Time Freight Quotation Engine, providing a scalable Rate Management system with a reliable throughput of millions of freight rates. Nico's tech stack includes infra, Kubernetes, Redis, Microservices, RabbitMQ, Postgres, Terraform, Backend, Golang, AWS, SRE, TypeScript, MongoDB, DevOps, and NodeJS. He is highly skilled in managing recruiting and initial onboarding pipelines for Software and Site Reliability Engineers. Nico is a strategic thinker with excellent communication and leadership skills. He is passionate about building high-performance teams and delivering innovative solutions.
